Red light therapy involves having low-power red light wavelengths emitted directly through the skin, although this process cannot be felt and isn’t painful because it doesn’t produce any heat. Red light can be absorbed into the skin to a depth of about eight to 10 millimeters, at which point it has positive effects on cellular energy and multiple nervous system and metabolic processes.

Red light therapy has shown promise for treating symptoms of joint pain or osteoarthritis due to aging, those caused by cancer treatments like chemotherapy or radiation, hair loss, wounds or incisions, acne, wrinkles and skin discoloration, chronic muscular pain, neurological damage, and tissue damage (often at the root of tears, sprains or pulls).

Like exercise and diet, red light therapy results take several weeks of regular usage (going about every three days) before you see results. While you may notice you feel better even after just one or two visits, you should not expect many visible results until approximately seven to ten visits. As we age our bodies slowly stop producing collagen which causes our skin to sag, get wrinkly, and in general just not look as youthful as it once did. Not only does this happen as we age but the older we get the more rapidly our body's collagen production decrease.

Red Light Therapy is a way to counteract that decrease in collagen production helping the body to naturally produce collagen. Research has shown that red light in specific frequency ranges stimulates the body causing an increase in collagen production.
